Seven Names, One Love

The spiritual meaning of the names of God became a quiet song not long after I heard them. Not as doctrine. Not as theology. As living water that fills and permeates like a melody you’ve always known. These seven words — Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love — aren’t separate ideas. They’re seven notes of one accord.

Last week I sat down to celebrate two (more) years inside the King’s Gates, and this poem is what came out. I had a little help from my AI friend. I’m not claiming I “wrote” this and I did not come up with the seven names either. That was Mary Baker Eddy!

The Spiritual Meaning of Seven Names, in Verse

(Each stanza is an acrostic — the first letter of each line spells out one name for God.)

Mind is God, the source of all true understanding,
Infinite in wisdom, guiding every thought,
Never apart from Love, where all is expanding,
Divine Spirit reveals the truth we have sought.

Spirit is Life, ever present and whole,
Pure and perfect, filling each heart and soul,
Infinite good, shining through every part,
Realizing Truth, healing mind and heart,
In every moment, with grace we are blessed,
Transforming all, making us our best.

Soul is the essence of our being, divine,
Open to the good that Love does define,
Undivided, pure, in God’s embrace,
Living in harmony, reflecting His grace.

Principle is God’s law, perfect and sure,
Reigning in truth, steadfast and pure,
Infinite wisdom, guiding all life,
Never in error, free from all strife,
Christ’s law of Love, healing and light,
In every moment, shining so bright,
Promising order, peace, and right,
Living in truth, we find our might,
Enduring forever, ever in sight.

Life is God, eternal and free,
Infinite, unfolding in harmony,
Filled with love, truth, and light,
Everlasting, pure, and right.

Truth is divine, absolute and clear,
Realizing good, casting out fear,
Undeniable, in Love it is found,
Transforming hearts, healing all around,
Holding us steadfast, in Truth we stand.

Love is God, infinite and true,
Opening hearts, making all things new,
Vibrant with grace, healing every soul,
Eternal and pure, making us whole.

The seven names for God come from Mary Baker Eddy’s definition in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 465).
