The echo, a memory

Beyond the castle walls
The green and steep spread out button size
to meet the ocean. A tearful coupling.
Edict of paramour.

The walls themselves bloodstained and soiled
as cold as death and colder still.
Amidst extremities
where the lonely heart yearns.

Like amphetamine in summertime.
A slow burn, a cold sweat and a memory.
The wind gales through a painless residence;
an updraft to the privy of secrecy.

A whisper finds its way downward
dangerously shrouded by darkness, a tunnel
where conspiracy lies dormant, entombed,
Sheathed in mystery.
